Bicycle Safety Tips for Parents

The New Lenox Safe Community Coalition, in partnership with Ride Illinois, is offering a FREE bicycle safety program for parents that will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, via Zoom Videoconference.

Bike Safety Tips for Parents is a one hour live online interactive course that offers cycling safety tips for parents and guardians of children who cycle or want to cycle. Topics covered during the course include Proper Helmet Fit, ABC Quick Check, hand signals, avoiding crashes, being visible and predictable, and communicating with cyclists and motorists. Upon completion of the course participants will have basic knowledge of information and skills needed to help teach their children to become safer cyclists.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. George Fero is a career educator with over 50 years of teaching and administrative experience at all levels of education from kindergarten through advanced graduate studies. He is a lifelong cyclist and has been a certified cycling instructor since 2015. George has served on the board of directors for Ride Illinois, the statewide cycling advocacy organization, since 2011 and serves as its current vice-president. In addition, he is vice-president of Gateway East Trails a cycling advocacy organization in Metro-east St. Louis, having served on that board since its founding in 2010.
